London Rock: The Unseen Archive of photographer Alec Byrne
Big THANK YOU to Alec Byrne and his team for choosing Sweet Relief as the beneficiary at the opening night of ‘London Rock: The Unseen Archive’!
Over 400 people attended the Los Angeles book launch of London Rock: The Unseen Archive of photographer Alec Byrne. The fete took place at The Perfect Exposure Gallery and showcased Byrne’s body of work that he shot as a teenage photographer in London starting in the mid 1960’s.
Byrne had access to all the biggest names in rock and roll including the Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, The Who, Bowie, Doors, Kinks, and the list goes on and on. After 10 years of mayhem, Byrne walked away from the business and moved to Los Angeles. What made this event so remarkable, is that Byrne’s archive should have never been seen at all due to a series of disasters it had to survive including a fire, flood and earthquake over the nearly half decade it was boxed up in storage. Sweet Relief Musician’s Fund was the charity partner for the event with a donation of a book and print up for auction that garnered $400 for musicians in need!
