2017 was a wonderful year for the Moody Blues and Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. The Moody’s participated in the Sweet Relief “Add a Buck” charity initiative, and the 20 shows on the 2017 50th Anniversary “Days of Future Passed” tour raised over $70,000 for ill, disabled and elderly musicians in need.
Some of the beneficiaries included a musician in Philadelphia suffering from prostate cancer, and Sweet Relief was able to pay for medical bills and vital living expenses while he underwent chemotherapy treatment. An elderly musician in Cupertino received assistance with rent payments, and a NY area musician received assistance with vital living expenses and medical bills while recovering from a wrist injury that left him unable to perform.
“The Moody Blues are not only amazing musicians, they are truly kind and generous human beings. They helped us change the lives of so many musicians in 2017 and we are grateful for their support. These men deserve every accolade they receive, we are so glad to see their Hall of Fame induction finally happening!” –Aric Steinberg, EVP Artist Relations, Sweet Relief Musicians Fund
The Moody’s have extended their generosity into 2018, and are adding $1 per ticket to several shows in 2018. The funds raised will allow Sweet Relief to continue to help musicians and music industry workers who are struggling to make ends meet while facing illness, injury, disability and age-related problems.
