About JC Hopkins
JC Hopkins is a Grammy nominated band leader, songwriter and producer. His ensemble, The JC Hopkins Biggish Band has been a New York institution since 2001 when the band was formed. That was the year the band performed its first tribute concert to Mose Allison at Joe’s Pub. In the wake of 9/11 those songs had a significant resonance. When Norah Jones sang “Everybody’s Cryin’ Mercy (but nobody knows the meaning of the word)” there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Those songs still hit home in these turbulent times. In 2010 the band did another concert in tribute to Mose, this time at City Winery and Elvis Costello was the featured performer interpreting with the Biggish Band a number of Mose’s classic songs with the great man in the house. Mose has since left the building but his great music and lyrics are still hitting home.
